Reducing the Risk of All Cause Mortality

90 minutes per week of exercise has shown to decrease all cause mortality by 14%.

I don’t know about you but that sounds like something I’m interested in.

Even more interesting/exciting is that building lean muscle may be even more powerful. A 10 year observational study of roughly 4,500 subjects ages 50+ found that those with low muscle mass were at 40-50% greater risk of mortality than controls, over the study period.

It’s not just the muscle mass, but also the strength of those muscles that matters.

Not backed by science (just my opinion) but I believe in the next 20 years we will learn that strength is one of the single largest predictors of longevity. Just remember when you read about it you heard it here first!

Moral of the story, if you want to not die make sure you’re lifting weights.
